This is a viewport compositor made with Blender 2.93, that adds a pixel sorting effect to your images videos or any other texture within Blender.

It can be used to texture assets by using UV coordinates.

The node groups are easy to use and customize, and come with directions and a sample image.

Append the materials if you want to use them in your own files.

These directions are also included in the .blend file:

----- Pixel Sorter Directions -----

- Look through the camera for the window texture coordinate to work. Make sure your output dimensions have the same resolution/aspect ratio as the image you want to affect. If your pixels aren't square, make sure the window height/width fields on the node group, are correct.

- Load your image or video into the "image texture node". If you use a video, make sure to set the amount of frames or it wont play. You can use this effect on any texture.

- I recommend viewport rendering with Eevee for speed. In the top left of the viewport, select "view" > "viewport render image/animation.

- If you want your colors to be accurate, make sure your "view transform" is set to "standard" instead of "filmic". These options are found in the "color management" section of the "render properties".

- If you want to use your own texture for the mask, use the "Pixel Sort Custom" material. Make your own mask with texture painting for maximum control.

- If you want to use these in a separate file, append the materials by selecting File > Append, and click fake user
